Made in the U.S.A., From the Ground Up

As a nationwide leader in complementary health care products and devices, you might expect Pivotal Health Solutions to be all about big business.

Not so, said Jim Engels, CEO. Since the company launched in 2005, it has quickly become an industry leader because it has such a high regard for its employees right here in the U.S. who handcraft its products.

While other companies may look to transferring its manufacturing overseas where cheaper labor abounds, PHS has put a premium on the skilled craftsmen building its products from the ground up on U.S. soil.

“When we say we are made in the U.S., that’s something we are very proud of,” said Engels. “We are committed to providing the highest quality products and devices in the massage, chiropractic, athletic training, physical/occupational therapy, pain management and laser therapy fields. For us, that means a commitment to hiring and keeping good people, sourcing quality materials, as well as being environmentally conscious.”

PHS manufactures its products at its plants in the mountains of Eugene, Ore. and on the plains of Watertown, SD. Those visiting the sites can not only stroll among administrative offices, but can also visit with designers, woodworkers, steel fabricators, painters and finishers—all of whom work closely together to build and continue to improve upon the custom products in PHS’s multiple service lines.

Since 2005, the parent company has continued to add other companies to meet its niche in the complementary health care field. Its rapid expansion, said Engels, is in part thanks to the fact that its creative team—designers and craftsmen together—all work side by side. “In many ways, the market has been stagnant for a long period of time,” said Engels. “There’s not been a lot of change. Some may say a table is just a table, but we see an opportunity to bring better value and a better product to that space. Thanks to our team, we’re meeting those opportunities head on.”
