I was delivering a table to a local client, and once I arrived at the former supply closet that was to be his new office with the custom 36″ wide table, I realized… “this is not going to work.” On the glass half full side, we were able to negotiate with one of the estheticians on staff to take the smaller room for body wraps and give him a larger, more appropriate space for massage. If you have been a mobile therapist for years and are moving into an office for the first time, there are a few things to consider when selecting a space for your massage room. You will want to allow at least 3 feet of space on all sides of the table. This will give enough room to do your work properly. A common size for a massage table is 29″ or 30″( 2.5′) wide by 73″ (6′ 1″) long. This size should accommodate the majority of your clients. You may not realize that a face rest will add 8″ to 12″ to the length of the table as well. Conserve space by adding an under table (shown in photo) or wall shelf for storage.
Fun Fact:
The sound of a snore (up to 69 decibels) can be almost as loud as the noise of a pneumatic drill.
