8/17/11 – Back To School Edition

Written by David Fried

Well, it’s that time of year again. Back to school ads are everywhere, end of summer trips are being taken and fall is quickly sneaking up on us. Everyone knows what is around the bend. Educators are getting their classes and teaching materials together, students are getting their supplies in order and the rest of us are just not wanting summer to leave. This time of year always gets me thinking about taking stock of things and making preparations for the impending winter months ahead. This has made me think of another important yet easily handled chore that should be done on an annual basis, making sure that your massage therapy equipment is in good working order.

Take a moment to make sure all the height adjustment knobs are there. Make sure the feet are in good order and do not allow the table to rock. Check the support cables to make sure they are in good shape and have not kinked or come loose.  Check your screws and nuts to make sure they are tightened. Check your face rest to make sure that the base is in good working order and that the cushion is clean and comfortable. Give your table a good thorough cleaning noting any damage to the fabric that can be repaired with a vinyl repair product. This is also a good opportunity to go back over the owners’ manual to refresh yourself on the intricacies of your equipment. By doing these quick and simple tasks and by paying attention to your equipment you will ensure a happy and successful year of healing work, learning or instruction.

Keep an eye out for more interesting, fun and educational blogs about the massage therapy industry in the coming weeks.
